Gershwin music

"Fascinatin' Rhythm: A New Gershwin Revue," will be held on Saturday, May 19, at 8 p.m. Congregational Church of Topsfield, 9E Common St., Topsfield. A new staged cabaret-style revue of the works of George Gershwin, produced by New England Light Opera, Inc. Family concert

"The Rhythm of Praise" will be held Friday, May 18, at 6:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center of First Church Congregational in Boxford. This concert will feature musicians and vocalists from Boxford Academy and the church.



Kitchen tour in Boxford

Boxford Elementary Schools Trust annual kitchen tour will be held on Saturday, May 19, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Starting at the Cole School. A self-guided tour of 10 homes to benefit the foundation's "Touched by Technology" initiative. $20. Visit www.bestforboxford.com.



Author speaks at luncheon

Friends of the Boxford Town Libraries Spring Luncheon and Annual Meeting, Thursday, May 24, 11 a.m. Georgetown Country Club. Keynote speaker is author Ann Hood. This year's silent auction will feature offerings from local businesses as well as signed books from local and national authors. Tickets to the event are $35 and $25 for seniors. You may register at the Boxford libraries, through the mail or via the Friends' Web site at www.friendsofboxfordlibraries.org. Deadline is May 14.



Strawberry Festival

The 39th annual Strawberry Festival will be held on Saturday, June 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Topsfield Town Common. Sponsored by the Topsfield Historical Society.



Recycling cartridges, phones

The Boxford Village Garden Club provides four locations in town where residents can recycle ink jet cartridges and/or cell phones at no cost.

The East Boxford Village library and post office, as well as the West Boxford library and West Boxford Provisions all display boxes where you simply drop in either item. The Garden Club will mail the box when it is full.

A small stipend is returned to the garden club for each item recycled but of more importance is the fact that the cartridges and phone batteries are not being deposited in landfills.



Special cleanup

Special household metals pickup in Topsfield will be held May 17 and 18. This is a free collection. Stickers are not required to be placed on household metals. Household metal objects include stoves, refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, bicycles, lawn mowers, snow blowers, air conditioners, etc. Objects such as refrigerators and freezers must have doors removed, and all gasoline powered appliances must have gasoline and oil removed for safety reasons.



Pan Mass for kids

North Shore Pan Mass Challenge for Kids, will be held Saturday, May 19, from 1 to 4 p.m., at Bradley Palmer State Park, Topsfield. A fundraising bike ride for kids ages 3 to 15 to benefit the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Face painting, music by WROR, refreshments, crafts and a silent auction.

Registration fee is $10; $25 minimum in sponsors. Call 978-887-7446.



Recreation Committee jobs

The Topsfield Recreation Committee is looking to hire counselors and program managers for the upcoming Celebrate Summer Camp. All interested and qualified applicants can obtain information and job application by visiting the committee's Web site at www.topsfieldrecreation.org.
