Local kids take to the stage

If you see animals starting to pair up "two by two" in Boxford this weekend, blame it on Jeremy Benson. The Boxford native will be playing the role of Noah in the musical "Children of Eden," put on by Moonlight Productions, a community theater company based in Ipswich.
The show sets Biblical stories from the book of Genesis, including Noah's arc and Adam and Eve, to music, exploring family relationships. "Children of Eden" features music and lyrics written by Stephen Schwartz, who wrote the musicals "Godspell" and "Wicked," as well as the song "Colors of the Wind" for the Disney movie "Pocahontas."
The 35-member cast also includes Boxford performers Melissa Jessel as Eve and Baize Buzan as the snake in the Garden of Eden. Boxford native Kimberly Robertson serves as the show's director.
The show is multi-generational, featuring elementary, high school and college-aged students, as well as adults from local communities.
This year is Moonlight Productions tenth anniversary, and to celebrate, the company is performing some of their favorite shows they've done in the past. Robertston noted that several cast members of this production of "Children of Eden" performed Moonlight's performance of the show in 1997.
