Nearly 60 teams from around the region drove the lane during the Merrimack Valley YMCA's 16th annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament.
Two hundred youths braved humid weather and temperatures around 90 degrees to play at the tourney at North Andover Youth Center. Games were played on both the indoor and outdoor basketball courts from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m., according to Elizabeth Covino, director of YMCA marketing and public relations.
The players on all first-, second- and third-place teams received trophies and first-place teams in each division also won a pair of sneakers from New Balance, she said. The tournament was open to boys and girls ages 9 to 18.
The event was sponsored by the New Balance Foundation, UPS, Optimum Sportswear and Vogel Printing. The tournament director was Doug Currier, senior program director at the Lawrence YMCA.
