"Back to the '70s Birthday Bash," 6:30 to 10:30 p.m., Saturday, May 5. Torigian Community Life Center, Peabody. The evening will include dinner, dancing, live music by "Horizon," cash bar, silent auction, retro fashion show, classic cars and more.

Men's exercise program, led by David Tucker, certified fitness instructor, is Wednesday, April 25, from 11:50 a.m. to 12:35 p.m. Tucker works to best suit each person's abilities yet hard enough to keep his students in shape, physically and mentally. Fee: $4.

Creative Writing Group meets Tuesday, April 24, led by former English teacher and staff member Joe Cotter, 10 a.m. to noon with special lunch to follow.

Billiards lessons are Wednesday, April 25, from 12:40 to 2 p.m. The time slot is dedicated to lessons for various levels. Coffee and tea are available, and lunch reservations may be made.

When dining with the Council on Aging, advance reservations are recommended. Coffee, tea and snacks are served throughout the day. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, the Coffee Cafe is open from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Suggested donation is $2. On weekdays, the Council provides home-delivered meals to those unable to join in the dining hall.

Well-being checks: By Comfort Keepers. Do you need your blood pressure checked, or your pulse or blood sugar? Meet with nurse Kathy Goodwin to have your health questions answered. Third Thursday of every month.

COA Board of Directors meets Wednesday, April 25, from 9:30 to 11:15 a.m.

Topsfield Council on Aging

Outreach program: The Topsfield Council on Aging has volunteers to assist with any questions. The staff can provide information, referrals and advocacy. A friendly caller or visitor can be arranged to contact those in need. All information is kept confidential. Volunteer groups also do yard work and odd jobs. Faith Works is a group of men and women volunteers from the Congregational Church who provide fix-its for safety-related problems. The group is taking names for their April 28 leaf raking.

Yoga class: Meets Monday, April 23, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and Fridays from 9 to 10 a.m. and is taught by certified instructor Kim. Each class is $3 and is pay-as-you-go. All abilities are welcome. Classes are limited to 15 participants. A release form is required before class. Call the COA at 978-887-1523 to register.

Men's club: Meets Thursday, April 26, at 11 a.m. at the Town Library. It is primarily a social club for men to help promote new interests and pursue interesting activities. Call Mickey Flynn at 978-887-5853.

Free Internet access: The Friends of the Council on Aging are sponsoring free Internet access through a computer station at Little Brook Community room. Tutors are available to teach how to surf the net, create an e-mail account and more. Call to set up a time to use the computer.

Mystery ride: Held on Monday, May 7, with lunch at an undisclosed location. Participants can select and purchase a meal from the menu provided. Suggested donation is $2 for round trip for transportation. Call 978-887-6866 to sign up. Space is limited.

Meals on Wheels: The program offers hot meals at lunch time five days a week for anyone over 60 who needs nutritional support. Small donation requested for meals.

Protective services for elders: Topsfield's protective services office for elders is SeniorCare Inc., which is available 24 hours a day for elder abuse or neglect and can work with the highest degree of confidentiality for sensitive situations. Call 978-468-1193.
