Candidates Night in Middleton
League of Women Voters Candidates Night will be held on Monday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m., at the Fuller-Meadow School, 143 South Main St., Middleton. Candidates are invited to present qualifications and views on issues. Local people wishing to give short presentations on particular ballot questions should contact Karen Sheridan at 978-887-5519 or sheridan@aol.com.

Car show
The Merrimack College Automotive Club will host its second annual car show on Sunday, April 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This student organization invites the community to spend a spring day checking out some of the hottest wheels in the Merrimack Valley — from classics to hot rods — and also enjoy food, raffles and music.
Registered cars on display will be competing for awards in the following classes: exotic, muscle cars, off-road, tuner, hot rod, antique, sports cars, luxury, motorcycle and specialty.
The rain date is April 29.
The show will be held at the Sakowich Campus Center parking lot at Merrimack College, 315 Turnpike St., North Andover.
Car registration is $5 (includes admission for driver and one passenger). Regular admission is $3 for adults, $1 for children and students/faculty. All proceeds will go to the Mothers Against Drunk Driving organization.

'Inconvenient Truth' showing
The Trinity Episcopal Church will be showing the Academy Award-winning film, "An Inconvenient Truth," at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18.
There will be a simple supper before the movie at 6 p.m. The 2006 documentary, directed by Davis Guggenheim, chronicles former Vice President Al Gore's worldwide campaign to bring the issue of global warming to the forefront. The feature won an Oscar for Best Documentary at this year's Academy Awards.
Melissa Etheridge's original song for the movie, "I Need to Wake Up," also won an Oscar. The film is rated PG, and runs 100 minutes.

Flint Library vacation programs
The Flint Library offers the following programs for children during April vacation:
"Movin' to the Beat" | Tuesday, April 17, 1 to 2 p.m., at the Middleton Congregational Church on Route 62. Georgia Bills will lead the interactive movement class for children age 5 and up. Music games, play party songs and ring games from different parts of the world will be played.
The Penguin Lady | Wednesday, April 18, at 11 a.m., at Flint Public Library, 4 Lookout Lane. Penguin expert Dyan deNapoli will offer facts and trivia about penguins. An interactive program for children of all ages.

Slideshow on Nepal culture
"The People, Culture, and Mountains of Nepal," a slide presentation delivered by Umesh Bhuju, will take place Friday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Gould Barn, Howlett Street, Topsfield. Bhuju is the owner of Zumi's Espresso and Ice Cream in Ipswich and a former mountain guide of Nepal's Himalayas. The event is hosted by the Topsfield Historical Society and is open to the public.
