Pingree School in South Hamilton announces the second semester honor roll. The following students earned honors, and are grouped in order of high honors, honors and headmaster's list. North Andover students Nathan Thornhill, Daniel C. Walton and Jocelyn Willis were named to theFitchburg State College dean's list for the spring semester. A student is placed on the dean's list for the semester if an average grade of 3.20 or better is attained, and the student is attending the college full time. The North Andover Lions Club recently awarded $500 scholarships to North Andover High School students Scott Flanz, Victoria Winslow, Jaclyn Specht and Kate Reading.
Jonathan Manning, a resident of North Andover, made Lasell College's spring 2008 dean's list. Manning is a member of the class of 2011 and is majoring in business administration.
Katherine M. Craig of Boxford, was among the 545 students who received a degree at St. Lawrence University's commencement ceremony this spring. Craig, who previously graduated from Masconomet Regional High School in Topsfield, received a degree cum laude in environmental studies-government. She minored in African studies and outdoor studies. The University of Massachusetts Lowell awarded close to 2,000 degrees at its 2008 commencement ceremony. Several local residents were recognized for their outstanding academic achievements including the following North Andover residents: Daniel D.Gabriel, for superior academic achievement, Methvelraj Award for excellence in computer science; and Mary Konola, for outstanding academic achievement.
Matthew L. Wolfman of North Andover graduated on May 18 from Marist College, receiving a bachelor of arts in English with a concentration in writing.

Northern Essex Community College's 46th annual commencement was held on its Haverhill campus this spring. The following local graduates received certificates and associate degrees: Boxford: Katherine B. Larkin, associate in arts liberal arts with honors; and John A. Lawrence, associate in science business management with honors North Andover: Melissa M. Foote, certificate in medical coding
Brookwood School in Manchester recently annouced its final term honor rolls. Achieving status on the honor roll, which recognizes students averaging 85 with no grade below 80, was sixth-grader Kyle Skelton of North Andover. "Honor roll recognition calls attention to those students with outstanding effort and performance," according to Brookwood School Headmaster John C. Peterman. Peterman adds that this recognition is limited to students in grades six, seven and eight.
Shore Country Day School in Beverly announced the third trimester honor and high honor rolls. Boxford student Jack Wallace was recently honored at a statewide ceremony for gifted children held by the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth. Jack, who just finished sixth grade at Spofford Pond School, was invited to the ceremony based on his exceptional performance on a rigorous, above-grade-level test given by Johns Hopkins to second- through eighth-grade "talent search" participants. He scored well on a SCAT test, an above-level exam scaled for second- through sixth-grade students, according to a release. At the ceremony, Jack was individually honored for his "academic performance and promise," said Johns Hopkins in a press release. He also earned a state award for high honors in international mathematics and placed second in the state for his verbal test score. Jack, the son of Scott and Julie Wallace, also competed on the Math Olympiad team at Spofford, under the direction of coach Beth Yando.
Ryan Dillon of Boxford has been named to the academic honor roll for the spring term at Northfield Mount Hermon School, in Mount Hermon, Mass.
