February 28, 2008 06:00 am Winter sports leaders at Austin Prep Austin Preparatory School senior Anne Jasinski of Boxford was named captain of the co-ed winter track team this season. Jasinski, a shot-putter, is the school record-holder for the event. The team finished strong this season, including a third place finish at the League Championship meet earlier this month. Jasinski is the daughter of Paul and Amy Jasinski of Boxford. Austin senior Danielle DelDotto of North Andover served a second year as captain of the girls hockey team this season. A five-year veteran of the team, she has been named a Catholic Central League All-Star every year since 2005. She is also a three-time Coaches' Award winner and competed in the MVP team at Mt. St. Charles Tournament in 2006. The Cougars advanced to the MIAA Division 1 finals last year, and hope to return to the playoffs in 2008. DelDotto is the daughter of Al and Lisa DelDotto of North Andover. Michael Magliochetti of North Andover, also a senior, has led the winter track team as captain this season. A four-year varsity athlete who competes in the shot put, Magliochetti was part of the tri-county league championship team in 2007. In his first year as captain, Magliochetti hoped to mentor underclassmen to achieve personal bests in their events. He is the son of Michael and Maria Magliochetti of North Andover. ><p>
Spin your wheels at the YMCA People who enjoy cycling and are 50 or older can join a new group at the Andover/North Andover YMCA at 165 Haverhill St., Andover. New for those 50 and older is Senior Spinning Class offered on Wednesdays from 8 to 8:45 a.m. The YMCA also offers Tai Chi for Seniors. This is a collaborative class with the North Andover Council on Again and the YMCA. "Feel great, stay fit and keep moving in this hour long class," says the YMCA in a release. "Tai Chi may improve concentration, memory, balance, muscle stamina, flexibility, relaxation and more." Register at the member services desk. Cost for YMCA family members and North Andover Council on Aging participants is $40. Nonmember cost is $160.
Swimming at the Y Also at the Andover/North Andover YMCA, its Aquatics Department offers private swim lesson for individuals of all abilities. One instructor to one student ratio, unless a semi-private lesson is requested. (Semi-private lessons can have up to four participants.)
