Veasey Park meeting, cookout
The Friends of Veasey Park will hold a meeting for members and guests Thursday, June 7, at 6:30 p.m. in the park's board room. The annual cookout will be Sunday, June 10, at 1 p.m. at the park. Library group establishes Web site
The Friends of the Langley-Adams Library, 183 Main St., have established a Web site. Anyone interested in joining the group may visit www.langleyadamsfriends.com for more information. The group helps raise money and provide additional programming for the library. The site also advertises upcoming events, meeting minutes and information about the patron pass program available at the library.
Drivers needed
Volunteer drivers are needed by the Groveland Council on Aging for seniors who travel around the Merrimack Valley for medical appointments or to do grocery shopping or errands. The COA, along with Northern Essex Elder Transport, is seeking volunteers for a few hours a month or more. NEET reimburses each driver 40.5 cents a mile for gas. Insurance is also covered by NEET. Scholarship fundraiser
The Pentucket Regional Scholarship Foundation's annual fundraising drive is on. The foundation is in its 49th year, providing scholarships for Pentucket area students. Pet page on Web site
The town of Groveland is offering a free lost, found or adoption pet page on its Web site. Visit www.grovelandma.com to visit cats and dogs that are up for adoption or have been found in town. Further information is available on the home page by clicking on news and announcements. If residents lose a pet, pictures may be e-mailed to Nancy Lewandowski at nlewandowski@grovelandma.com. A phone number is necessary to properly notify the pet owner.
A place for nonprofits
Veasey Memorial Park is placing a request for proposals for nonprofit groups looking for space. The separate building is a cottage dating back to 1930 and offers 3,250 square feet, plenty of parking and beautiful views in a unique setting. The building needs some attention; the park's management committee will remodel the facility to suit the tenant. Call Megan Whithed at 978-521-9345 for more information.
Rhyme Time at library
Rhyme Time, led by Alese Hunt, meets every other Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Langley-Adams Library. No sign-up needed. Free class is appropriate for 2- to 6-year-olds. Each Rhyme Time session includes songs, rhymes, puppets and fingerplays. For more information, call the library at 978-372-1732.
Subdivision regulations available
The Planning Board has the newest edition of its subdivision regulations available at the town clerk's office to purchase for $31. The board will also have copies to purchase during its meeting office hours. The updated manual cover is now pink. The yellow cover, previous version, is out of date. Regulations not available online.
Nichols Village garage sale June 16
Nichols Village will hold its third annual garage sale featuring something for everyone, including crafts, antiques, jewelry, original oil paintings, books and CDs, grandma's attic and homemade baked goodies. The event will be held Saturday, June 16 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Nichols Village, 1 Nichols Way, Route 113.
Veterans director at COA office
Michael Ingham, veterans services director, holds office hours in the Council on Aging office every third Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Ingham is available to assist veterans and their spouses with information on benefits and other veteran-related issues. Call 978-372-1101.
Veterans welcome at meetings
William R. Dewhirst Jr. Post 7366, Veterans of Foreign Wars, welcomes all veterans to join its monthly meeting held every second Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. The group meets at Veasey Memorial Park, 201 Washington St.
Wireless Internet at library
The Langley-Adams Library, 183 Main St., offers wireless Internet service to patrons with laptop computers. Library hours are Monday and Wednesday, 1 to 8 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday, noon to 5 p.m.
Vacation Bible School
Register for Groveland Congregational Church's Vacation Bible School entitled, "Avalanche Ranch." Program runs Aug. 13 to 17 from 9 a.m. to noon at the church, 4 King St. Ages 4 to 10 welcome; you don't need to be a church member to join. $25 registration fee includes games, snack, music, stories, crafts and more. Hunting and fishing licenses
Hunting and fishing licenses will no longer be issued by the Groveland town clerk. To obtain one in person, visit the Georgetown or Merrimac town halls. Permits may also be obtained online by visiting www.mass.gov at the Mass Wildlife section.
