Artist Margot Siegmann will exhibit her work in the Boardroom Gallery at Veasey Memorial Park in Groveland starting Sunday, June 10.
Siegmann studied for five years in Varese, Italy, under Silvio Monte, who is known for his very large paintings of birds and old temples.
"While living in Italy I became interested in frescoes; pieces were missing from their designs and the colors were soft," Siegmann said. "The backgrounds of these paintings are from my memories of these wonderful walls."
Siegmann and her students paint in the studio that was once that of Laura Coombs Hills, an artist of the late 19th century, well known for her ivory painted miniatures and watercolors.
Siegmann's preferred medium is mixed media, but is said to be proficient in all disciplines. She comes from Virginia and has traveled extensively. She is a member of the Newburyport Art Association and teaches painting at a large studio in her house. Her Web site is www.margotsart.com.
Open house hours for the public will be June 10 and June 24 from 2 to 5 p.m. There will be an opportunity to meet the artist along with some light refreshments. Directions and information can be found at www.veaseypark.org or by calling 978-521-9345. The exhibit runs from June 10 through July 4 and is also available for showing by appointment by calling 978-521-9345.
