Weekly van trips for shopping, outings

Available each Tuesday for grocery shopping trips, the Georgetown Council on Aging van is scheduled to provide several social outings each month. Day trips are scheduled to Stromberg's on Thursday May 31. Participants will be picked up at 10:30 a.m. Cost is $2 per trip. Health and wellness classes available

Following the theme for Older Americans Month of "Older Americans: Making Choices for a Healthier Future," the Georgetown Council on Aging offers a variety of health and wellness classes on a weekly basis. Yoga classes meet every Wednesday, 9 a.m. at Saint Mary's Hall, lower level, on Andover Street (Route 133). Newcomers are welcome to attend. A $3 donation is suggested and participants should bring a yoga mat.

Enjoy a morning of cardiovascular exercise and good conversation when the Walking Club meets Tuesdays, 8 a.m. at the Senior Center, located at First Congregational Church on Andover Street (Route 133).

Designed to improve muscle tone and build strength and mobility, strength training classes are held Tuesdays at 1 p.m. and Thursdays at 11 a.m. at Saint Mary's Hall, lower level, on Andover Street (Route 133). A $3 donation is suggested per class.

Fun and plenty of exercise is had during weekly Line Dancing classes Wednesdays, 11:30 a.m. at Saint Mary's Hall, lower level, on Andover Street (Route 133). All levels of experience are encouraged to attend. A $3 donation is suggested.

Manicures available June 6 and 13

Local manicurist Heidi Garozzo will provide basic and French manicures Wednesdays June 6 and June 13, 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Georgetown Senior Center located at the First Congregational Church on Andover Street. Cost is $8 for a basic manicure and $12 for a French manicure. To make a reservation, call the Georgetown Council on Aging at 978-352-5726. Reserve a spot for lunch and make a morning out of it!



Weekly bingo games underway

Weekly bingo games are underway Mondays at noon at the Georgetown Senior Center located at First Congregational Church on Andover Street (Route 133). Cost is $1 per card, covers up to 10 games. Prizes are awarded to each game winner. For more information, call the Georgetown Senior Center at 978-352-5726. Schedule a lunch reservation and plan to stay for bingo! Weekly bingo games are also scheduled every Wednesday, 1 p.m. at the Trestle Way Community Room. Cost is 50 cents per single card and 75 cents per triple card. Medical transportation available

Medical transportation is available through Northern Essex Elder Transportation. The Georgetown Council on Aging provides rides for seniors to medical and other necessary appointments. Northern Essex Elder Transportation is staffed by volunteer drivers. Though a donation of 32 cents per mile is requested to help support the program, no one will be turned away. A minimum of two days' notice is required. The driver will call those with appointments on the day of travel to finalize details. For more information, call the COA at 978-352-5726.
