The members of the Masconomet Regional High School Class of 2008 can make their last night as Chieftains a safe one.
The Tri-Town Council on Youth and Family Services has planned an all-night party for the graduates to enjoy after they cross the stage in caps and gowns. The event will be June 6, beginning immediately after graduation. It lasts through 6:30 the next morning.
This year's party will include events that have been carefully kept secret to add to the excitement, organizers say.
The all-night graduation party began more than 30 years ago. In past years, some events included attending sports clubs for tennis, swimming, basketball and Frisbee; comedy shows; hypnotists; a boat tour around Boston; movie-theater outings and other shows; mock game shows; balloon artists; swimming pools; beach sunrises; bowling and plenty of food, according to the organizers.
The party is sponsored by the Tri-Town Council and made possible through the efforts of parents of seniors who plan the event and parents of juniors who agree to chaperone. Two police officers and one security officer will be there.
Letters have been mailed to the homes of seniors with information about the all-night graduation party. Included in this mailing is an authorization and waiver form, which needs to be signed by both a parent and the student, and mailed with a payment.
The forms are also available at the high school office or on the Tri-Town Council Web site at www.tritowncouncil.org.
Best graduation seats raffled off
With graduation approaching, families and friends can enter a raffle for premium seating at graduation. A $20 raffle ticket could win someone four seats right up front at graduation, seated behind the School Committee. Only 100 raffle tickets will be sold. Raffle tickets are $20 each, or three for $50.
Proceeds from the premium graduation seat raffle will go directly toward the planning of the all-night graduation party. If you would like to purchase raffle tickets, send payment to Tri-Town Council, 49 Main St., Topsfield MA 01983.
